During the 1927-28 season, the Rangers entered the NHL's 11th season. Only playing 44 games, the Rangers went on to beat the Montreal Maroons and claim their first Stanley Cup victory. The Rangers made history by becoming the first team in the NHL to win the Cup since the 1917 Seattle Metropolitans.
Five years later, the Rangers again attempted to bring home a championship win. Playing 48 games during the regularly scheduled season, the Rangers earned a spot in the final round and successfully beat the Toronto Maple Leafs three games to one to win their second Stanley Cup.
During that same decade, the Rangers arrived in the NHL's 23rd season as one of the seven teams in the league. Though some say the best team were the Boston Bruins, the Stanley Cup winners ended up being the New York Rangers, beating the Toronto Maple Leafs four games to two.
Fifty-four years later, the Rangers strived to break their championship lose record. Since their last trip to the final round, 26 teams now existed in the NHL, each playing 84 games. After an excellent season of skill and determination, the Rangers defeated the Vancouver Canucks four games to three to end their streak and bring home their fourth Stanley Cup.
