Marc Staal

February 20, 2008 - Marc Staal was born on January 13, 1987 in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. He currently plays for the National Hockey League as a defensive player on the New York Rangers. His older brother, Eric Staal is currently on the Carolina Hurricanes. They also have two older brothers, Jordan Staal on the Pittsburgh Penguins and Jared Staal on the Sudbury Wolves in the Ontario Hockey League. Want to see either of them live and in action? From 2003 to 2007, Marc Staal played in the OHL as his team's captain. In 2005, he was drafted by the NHL in the first round as the 12th pick. One of Staal's most shining moments includes receiving the Max Kaminsky Trophy as one of the OHL's Most Outstanding Defenceman for the 2006-07 season. He also was awarded the Wayne Gretzky 99 Award which goes to the OHL's postseason MVP.

In October of 2007, Staal finally made his NHL debut on the New York Rangers. His first point came as an assist against the Washington Capitals. He recored his first goal in 2007 against the New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center.
